# Contribution Guidelines

Thanks for taking the time to contribute! Please [open a pull request](https://source.tube/pmurad/awesome-indieweb/pulls) to add, update, or remove an entry. If you cannot open a PR, [file an issue](https://source.tube/pmurad/awesome-indieweb/issues/new/choose) to suggest a resource or report a broken link.

## Adding an entry

- Make sure the resource is genuinely useful for building, owning, or connecting an independent personal website.
- Add it to the most relevant section, keeping items in a sensible order.
- Use this format, with a real hyphen separating the link and the description:

  ```
  - [Name](https://example.com) - A short, factual description ending with a period.
  ```

- Keep descriptions concise (ideally one line) and objective: describe what the resource does, not why you like it.
- Prefer the canonical, HTTPS project URL. Avoid tracking parameters and affiliate links.
- Check the link works and the project is maintained (recent releases or activity).

## Quality bar

- No duplicates. Search the list before adding.
- No dead links, parked domains, or abandoned projects presented as current.
- One entry per resource, in a single most-fitting section.

## Updating or removing

- If a project is renamed, merged, or discontinued, update or remove its entry and adjust the description.
- If something no longer fits the spirit of the list, open a PR explaining why.

## Before you submit

- Confirm the Table of Contents still matches the section headings.
- Keep the file free of trailing whitespace.
